Jesus Our High Priest Sealed the Eternal Covenant
We know Jesus as Savior and Lord, but do we know what He does for us as our High Priest? Hebrews 9:11-12 “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us”.
Jesus went to the cross the Sacrificial Lamb and our Substitute, but He arose the Lord High Priest and the Savior of the world. In His death Jesus conquered death and the grave, and also stripped Satan of all his authority. When Jesus appeared to John on the isle of Patmos, He said, “I am he that liveth and was dead; and behold, I am alive for evermore, and have the keys of hell and of death”. Revelation 2:18 The Keys spoken of in this scripture represent authority and power. Every person who has made Jesus Lord and Savior, and will walk in the full knowledge of their “NEW BIRTHRIGHT” will have authority over every evil demonic force that comes against them. However, you must understand and remember that Satan will try to deceive you and if you let him, he will use your authority against you. One must understand that Satan has no power against the Child of God. The problem is most Christians don’t know about it. They think Satan is all powerful, but the real truth is, you have the authority, and it was given to you by Jesus Christ. What Satan has to do is get you to let go of your authority, by agreeing with what he says. Satan is after you words, and if he can get you to agree with him, you have just handed over to him you power. Look at it this way. God on one side of you, Satan on the other, the choice is yours, who do you agree with? Agreeing with God’s Word means you and God overcome, agreeing with Satan, means he wins, you lose. It is very important for every Believer to know what their standing is in the Family of God. We, as Christians have been delivered OUT OF THE POWERS OF DARKNESS BY THE BLOOD OF JESUS. In other words, we no longer belong to Satan, God is now our Father. We have been bought with a great price and are now members of God’s Family, and we should not only act like it but also reflect the characteristics of our Heavenly Father . Colossians 1:13-14 “Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness (Satan), and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son; In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”
It would be profitable for each of us to meditate on these scriptures until they become a part of our everyday thinking. We would begin to reign in life over situations and circumstances we face in our life. The first record we have of Jesus after the resurrection is when Mary Magdalene came to the tomb and found it empty. Jesus was standing nearby and when she came to Him to ask where they had laid her Lord, Jesus called her by name, and at that moment He opened her eyes and allowed her to see who He was, and she immediately recognized Him. I have often thought how wonderful it must have been for Mary to behold our Savior just after He had risen. She must have started to touch Jesus, because He spoke to her, “….touch me not; for I have not yet ascended to my Father; but go to my brethren and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father and your Father; and to my God and you God”. John 20:17 Jesus was about to ascend and enter the Heavenly Holy of Holies with His own Blood and seal the new covenant. This was the first act as our High Priest. It would not be necessary for Him to place His Blood more that once on the Covenant, because He had obtained an “ETERNAL REDEMPTION” for mankind. He had redeemed the human race and made it possible for the Child of God to once again come into the presence Almighty God and stand there in clothed in the Righteousness of Jesus our Lord. If the Saints could only grasp the reality of what has been purchased for them and walk in the fullness of their redemption they would have people asking “what is the secret to your success?” Little does the unbeliever know that we, the redeemed of God, have a Heavenly Father that has provided for us, and it is the abundant life He wants every Child to enjoy. I believe He states His heart’s desire so clearly in the 23 Psalms: (Paraphrased)
“The Lord is my Shepherd, how can I want.” He causes me to lie down and rest in the green pastures. He knows every need that comes my way and He supplies abundantly so I do not worry or fret, for I am under His loving care. “The sweet waters that flow by me are crystal clear and refreshing.” There is no turmoil in my life for Jesus loves me and cares for me. “He restoreth my soul.” Nothing that frightens me or fills me with fear, for I feel His arms about me and I know that He tenderly cares for me.
“He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness.” He has made the way into His presence and He lets me know that I am welcome in the Throne Rood.
“And though I walk in the realm of death, I will fear no evil for He is always with me.” He overshadows me with His protective care.
“Thy rod of protection and thy staff of plenty they are a comfort to me.” I am shielded and cared for, I am hidden away in Him.
“Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” I do not fear for I am In Christ and nothing shall hurt me.
“Thou anoint my head with oil”. I belong to the Royal Family.
“My cup runneth over.” I have joy unspeakable for my life is full because His presence is always with me.
“Goodness and mercy shall follow me all through this earth walk.” He continually showers me with His Grace.
“I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” My Lord is so real to me and our fellowship so sweet that when I drop this veil of flesh at death I will not even lose step with Him, for He will walk me through the gates of pearl and I shall forever dwell in His presence.
David knew His God in a way few know Him today. But we can be like David and set a new goal to know our Father, I mean really know Him and walk with Him in perfect fellowship from this day forward.
