Gift Of Love
Jesus is the Gift of Love God gave to the world. Let’s take a look at scripture and see what this means and what this means to mankind. Matthew 1:23 - ”Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, they shall call his name Emanuel, which is being interpreted God with us.”
Most of us have heard this story so many times that we shut our minds off to the reality of this scripture. We have never completely grasp the depth of the meaning of the birth of Jesus. EMANUEL, GOD WITH US…Do you know how long it had been since God walked among men? God walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden. Now we hear the words, “a virgin shall bring forth a child and He shall be called EMANUEL, GOD WITH US. What a statement! God would again walk with His creation. Every prophecy spoken concerning the coming Savior would now to be manifested. The One who would save mankind was to come. What would motivate God to send His Blessed Son to earth? It was a gift of love in the absolute sense. God was withholding nothing, but was giving His best to redeem man. John 3:16 - ”For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life,”
John 3:16 is a very familiar scripture which most of us can quote, but have failed to comprehend the meaning. “For God so loved that He gave…” What did God give? He gave His only Son. God didn’t send an Angel, but His one and only Son, and He gave Him for you and me so we could become joint heirs with Jesus, become a member of God’s Family and once again walk with Him. When Adam and Eve surrendered to the temptation of the serpent, they lost all fellowship with their Creator. Adam and Eve did receive the knowledge of good and evil spoken of in Genesis 3:5, but they lost the spiritual life God had given them and now they were abiding in spiritual death, (separation from God). Adam’s sin resulted in a transfer of his earthly authority to Satan. When this transfer of authority took place, it separated man from God and no longer did man have the joy of walking and talking with his Creator. When this event took place, God didn’t fall out of love with His creation. He still loved man in spite of what happened in the garden, and He set in motion the events that would open the door for Jesus to come and redeem man. It took a love that we cannot comprehend to purchase that privilege for us. I John 4:9-10 - In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world that we might live through him. Herein is love, not that we loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins”.
Here in is love, think about that for a moment. Have you ever been wronged by someone who didn’t like you, but seemed to delight in hurting you? Would you give your son’s life for that person? I don’t believe anyone could make that kind of sacrifice, but God did. You see, God doesn’t have love, He is Love, and the sacrifice He made to redeem you and I is still available today to all who will receive it. I John 3:1 - Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the Sons of God.”
Behold means to look, closely at what God is saying, He has made us sons and daughters of the Most High God. We are in the Family of God. You may not feel like a child of God, but you are if Jesus is your Lord. The son of a King lives in the fullness of all the Father has. God did not only offer man eternal life, which in itself is the greatest gift that one can receive, but He says we are His son or daughter. We are to enjoy that privilege now, while we are on earth. We don’t have to wait until we get to Heaven to have our needs met. When we get to Heaven there will be no needs. Here on earth is where we need peace, joy, healing, wisdom and much more, and it has been provided for us if we will just tap into it. You are just as much a Son of God now as you will be when you get to Heaven. Every blessing God promised in the Word belongs to you and me, but it is our responsibility to find out what they are, and the only way we can discover what God has provided is to study His Word. I want you to know that everything God has given to you is a gift. You cannot earn it, or get good enough to deserve it. If you are not a Child of God, you can be, He is offering you the Gift of Love, and all you need to do is receive it. Don’t let another day to pass without knowing the One who gave His life so you might live.
Pray the following prayer in faith.
- Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I have rejected Jesus as my Lord in the past, and I repent of this sin now. I desire to become your child. I do believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that He came to redeem me. I believe He died on the cross for my sins and that you raised Him from the dead. I receive Him as my Lord and Savior right now. I believe I have passed from death to life and am now your child. I thank you Father for loving me and receiving me into the Family. I believe in my heart that I am saved. I confess it with my mouth, “I am now a child of God”.
John 1:12. ”But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become Sons of God, even to them that believe on his Name”.
If you prayed this prayer, you have just become a child of God. Now, go tell someone the Good News. CONGRATULATIONS
