Develop Strong Confidence

The Bible teaches we are to have strong confidence in God. The Bible also tells us over and over that the Lord is our Refuge, our Shelter, and our Strong Tower. Yet, many Believers never realize they can call upon Him for any of these comforts.

Being born into the Kingdom of God makes available every blessing God has offered His children. However, just because the blessings are available doesn’t mean every Child of God will enjoy them. First they must learn they are available, and then realize they have been given to them personally. (You cannot accept what you don’t know is available to you). The next step is learning how to appropriate the blessings into their lives.

Hosea 4:6

“My people are destroyed for a lack of knowledge:..”.

Our lack of knowledge of the Word of God will open the door for Satan to come and steal any blessing God has given to us. Satan will always steals in the area we lack knowledge. When we study the Word of God and the Holy Spirit gives us revelation of the scripture we are reading, we gain knowledge and once we have knowledge we have faith for that revelation. Faith is simply knowledge we believe and act on. Once you realize God has provided, and that the provision is for you personally, you will not have any problem believing that God will give it to you. Therefore, if Satan has been stealing from you in a certain area, study the scripture that cover your situation until you receive a revelation that God has provided for you in that specific area, then you will have the faith to render Satan powerless.

You as a Born Again Child of God have an inheritance, but until you know what it contains and that it is yours personally, you will live far below your rights and privileges Jesus has provided for you. Every Child of God needs to know what has been purchased for them by the Blood of Jesus. Many Christians think it is God holding back what they need, when in reality it is the Devil at work in the shadows. He always keeps the focus off himself, because he knows once you know who is behind your problem, you will defeat him. Make no mistake, GOD IS NOT YOUR PROBLEM, HE IS YOUR SOLUTION. It is Satan that is your opponent.

Proverbs 14:25

“In the fear of the Lord is strong confidence and his children shall have a place of refuge.”

The word “fear” doesn’t mean terror. We are not to be afraid of the Lord. The word “fear” is translated reverence. We are to reverence the Lord, have an attitude of deep respect and love. The scripture says, “In the reverence of the Lord is STRONG CONFIDENCE”. Not a weak and wavering confidence but a confidence that is strong and that will not give up when the pressures of live come.

Confidence means: a firm belief or trust, an assurance or faith that causes one to stand. Therefore, if we will put our trust in God it will cause us to stand in the evil day when Satan comes to test us, and I can assure you that evil day will come. It comes to every Believer at one time or another. We must remember that Satan hates God and His Children which you are one, so it’s not rocket science to know Satan doesn’t like you and me, and he will do what he can to discourage us, defeat us, and make us doubt God.

Have you thought about this? When you go to church and hear a wonderful sermon, how hard it is to remember what the Preacher said. If you don’t take notes, you will forget the scriptures he used and most of what he said about them. That is Satan stealing the Word from you, and he does the same when you are studying the Word. Another maneuver Satan will use if he can’t steal the Word from you, he will come with a test or trial to try your faith in God. He wants you to believe God’s Word will not work, anyway not for you. Don’t think you are in this boat alone, because you are in good company. All the other Saints are in the boat with you. Therefore, don’t ever let Satan get you to let go of the Word of God by agreeing with him. If you do, you lose, and he wins.

If we reverence the Lord we will respect and love Him. We will desire to know more about Him, and look forward to our time of fellowship with Him. It will not be a time we feel we HAVE to pray, but a special time we look forward to. God doesn’t want us to be in bondage, He wants us to come into the Throne Room to fellowship with Him, and He doesn’t care what time of day or night we come, He just wants us to come. In His presence are where the problems of life seem to melt away and the storm clouds turn to sunshine. I think we all need to spend more time with our Father drinking in His love, listening to what He wants to share with each of us personally.

Things of the spirit are much like things in the natural. When you love someone you want to spend time with that person, get to know them, learn what they are like and how to please them, it works the same way in the spirit. The only difference is we have to know the Father through His Word and prayer. We have to invest time with God if we are to enjoy the greater things of the spirit. It is the only way we become sensitive to His abiding presence and to His voice. God does speak to His Children, but most people are dull of hearing. I can pick out my husband’s voice in a crowd of people anytime because I know the sound of his voice. That is the way we need to hear God when He speaks, and He is speaking, we are just not listening. I believe if we continue in His Word, in worship and prayer His voice will become clearer and clearer every day.

The scripture in Proverbs goes on to say we shall have a place of refuge, and this refuge will be our strong confidence. Refuge speaks of shelter or protection from danger.

Psalms 91:2

“I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in Him will I trust (or have confidence)”.

How do we enjoy the refuge God has provided? The answer is in the first part of the scripture. “I WILL SAY”. David constantly spoke of the greatness of God, and what He would do for him. David knew he could trust God with his life and he continually praised God for who He was, not what he could get from Him. We need to follow David’s example and boldly confess who our God is and what He has done for us instead of what Satan is doing.

God said the Word is the incorruptible seed, and it must be planted if you want a harvest. Why did God speak of the Word as seed? I think it is because he knew we were smart enough to know that natural seeds have to be planted if they are to produce, and that we would realize the incorruptible seed would need to be planted also. We plant the seed of God’s Word by agreeing with it, and we agree by speaking His Words, not our words. Only His Words will produce the promise you see in the Bible.

Psalms 91:3

“Surely, he shall deliver me from the snare of fowler (Satan)…”

The man (David) making this statement has developed strong confidence in his Lord. There is no doubt in his mind concerning what God will do for him. He is completely and totally convinced His God will deliver him from ALL HARM. David didn’t cast away his confidence in God like most of us do when Satan turns up the heat.

Hebrews 10:35

“Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward.”

If we couldn’t cast away our confidence, we wouldn’t be encouraged not to do it. Test and trials will come our way, and Satan will try to steal or destroy the Word that is sown in our hearts. Therefore you have to be more determined to grow in the things of God than Satan is in defeating you. We always go into battle determined to win. Every Child of God should make a quality decision they are going to mature in the things of God and pursue it with every thought of failure erased.

Hebrews 3:14

“For we are made partakers of Christ, if we hold the beginning of our confidence steadfast unto the end”.

The Holy Spirit exhorts us to hear what He is saying to the Church. This is not the time to get lazy about spiritual matters. If you will read the entire third chapter of Hebrews you will see that not all the people that came out of Egypt entered the promise land. They fell in the wilderness because they let go of their confidence. Let me encourage you to not let go of the Word. You only reap the promise if you hold your confidence steadfast until the end, and the end is when you see the Word (promise) manifest in your life. (We fight until we win)

Deuteronomy 28:1-15 list the blessings we can expect from our Father as we walk with Him in His Word. But the blessings have a condition and it is stated in the first verse, “IF YOU HEARKEN DILIGENTLY TO THE VOICE OF GOD AND OBSERVE TO DO ALL HIS COMMANDMENTS…” You can’t overlook that part of the chapter and expect the blessings to overtake you, because they won’t. However, if you fulfill His condition the blessings will overtake you. You have His promise, and He always fulfills His Promises.

Psalms 89:34

“My covenant (promise) will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips”.

Joshua 1:8 encourages us to meditate day and night, to keep the Word before our eyes and in our mouth. We are to study, meditate, and do what the Word says, then our way will be prosperous and we will have good success, in our natural life and also in our spiritual life. This scripture is a word from God direct to you and me personally.
